Thousands in Jerusalem for Orthodox Easter ‘Holy Fire’ rite

Thousands of Christians congregated in Jerusalem for the Orthodox Easter Holy Fire rite on Saturday, despite Israeli police restrictions on access to the church. The rite, which marks the most important event in the Orthodox Christian calendar, is performed annually at the site where tradition says Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and resurrected. This year's ceremony came after several days of deadly clashes and attacks in Israel and the occupied West Bank.
