The Jharkhand police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in the locality of Shastrinagar after several groups of protesters, including some from local organisations, protested against the alleged desecration of a Religious Flag. The situation turned violent on Sunday evening when a shop was gutted leading to brick-batting from both sides. A mob also set on fire an autorickshaw, forcing the police to fire tear gas shells. The deputy commissioner said that the shops and the auto-rickshaw were set ablaze by local miscreants. The situation has been stabilized by the deployment of an adequate police force.
