First cases of rare tick disease found in England

Ticks can carry a number of different diseases, including Tick borne encephalitis (TBEV). The virus is spread by ticks and is most commonly found in Europe, where it has recently embedded itself in the UK. Although the risk to the general public is very low, people are advised to take precautions such as checking for ticks when out in nature and using insect repellent.
