In the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk, Russian forces have left at least 29 people dead and 70 wounded in recent bombardments. The city is regularly bombarded by Russian forces. In June, the Russians cut off one of the two main access roads to the city and positioned themselves to the east and south. In recent months, they have advanced and taken villages to the southwest and north, as if to take Avdiivka in a pincer movement, failing to be able to take it frontally. Although only 13km from Donetsk, the Russian-controlled capital of the region, the city had 30,000 inhabitants when the Kremlin invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
