Jiang Ping was denied a pay rise because her husband, a director at James Durrans & Sons, earned more than enough. Ms Ping's husband, David Armitage, later raised her salary with managing director Chris Durrans. Mr Durrans' comment that their "combined household is more than enough" amounted to sex discrimination, according to an Employment Tribunal judge.
