BBC Sports journalists have given the corporation zero out of five for its handling of the Gary Lineker row. The survey found that 80% of the 41 BBC Sport reporters who responded gave their bosses the lowest possible mark, with many staff feeling that the leadership team were not aware of the potential fallout from allowing Lineker to return to his presenting role. Lineker issued a defiant statement, without apologising, over his tweets about the Government’s illegal immigration policy. The BBC confirmed the presenter would return to Match of the Day with Tim Davie, Director-General of the BBC, insisting he “did the right thing”.
