Michel Hazanavicius, a French film director, won an Oscar for his 2011 film, The Artist. After the war in Ukraine began, he wanted to do something to help, so he organized a charity auction for Ukraine. He donated half of the money to United 24, and the other half to Olena Zelenska's foundation. He visited Kyiv to meet President Zelensky and see the city for himself. He was struck by the resilience of the people of Ukraine, and was impressed by the president's charisma and easygoingness. He believes that messages from people outside of Ukraine are also important in support of the country's victory.
