Why Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness Are Divorcing After 27 Years of Marriage

The Billion Life Why Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness Are Divorcing After 27 Years of Marriage

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have announced their separation after 27 years of marriage, shocking their fans and the showbiz world. The couple, who met on the set of an Australian TV show in 1995 and adopted two children together, Oscar Maximillian Jackman and Eva Elliot Jackman, released a joint statement today saying they have decided to part ways to pursue their individual growth.

However, a source close to the couple told Page Six that the split was not a surprise to those who knew them well, as it had been brewing for a long time. The source claimed that the couple had been living like “roommates” for a while, and that there was no third party involved in their decision.

“It happened a while ago. Friends and family knew about it,” the source said, adding that the couple may have been having issues since before Jackman returned to Broadway in February 2022 to star in The Music Man. The source also revealed that Furness was not very supportive of Jackman’s musical career, and was even seen “snoozing” during some of his rehearsals.

Jackman, 54, and Furness, 67, were one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples, despite their 13-year age gap and constant speculation about Jackman’s sexuality. They often gushed about each other in interviews and on social media, and were frequently spotted enjoying activities together, such as riding scooters in New York City and swimming in the Hamptons.

The couple’s last public appearance together was at the Met Gala in May, where they looked glamorous and happy. However, behind the scenes, they were already preparing to go their separate ways.

In their statement to People magazine, the couple said they were “blessed” to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a “wonderful, loving marriage”. They also said their family was their “highest priority” and that they would undertake their next chapter with “gratitude, love, and kindness”.

They asked for privacy and respect from the public and the media, and said they would not make any further comments on their separation.

The couple’s fans expressed their sadness and shock on social media, with many saying they were heartbroken by the news. Some also praised them for their long-lasting relationship and wished them well for the future.
