They call for a new migrant caravan stranded in Chiapas to advance towards the United States

The same NGO estimates that more than 30 thousand migrants are in route to Mexico from Panama and the countries of Central America.

The organization Pueblo Sin Fronteras called on Migrants stranded on the southern border of Mexico to organize themselves in a new Caravan to walk out of Tapachula, Chiapas, on October 30, seeking to advance towards the north of the country and reach the border with USA.

“There is no longer room for more migrants in Tapachula. Rent, food and without work, God can no longer live. We need humane and fair solutions for this migration crisis, which kills us every day, the violence and cruelty of the National Migration Institute (INM) has no limits,” warned the organization led by activist Irineo Mújica.

In a call he justified that there are no longer enough shelters for foreigners, the procedures before institutions such as the Mexican Commission for Aid to Refugees (Comar) are dilatory and foreigners have no sources of income.

“We only ask to pass and migrate with dignity, INM does not respond, Comar is saturated, from six months to a year waiting, it is hell,” he added.

The organization asked migrants who want to join the call to register, after establishing the Bicentennial Park, as a meeting and departure point for next Monday, October 30.

The call comes just five days before a migration summit is held in Chiapas in which the presidents of the countries of Central America, South America and the Caribbean, the main sending nations, are expected to participate.

The same NGO estimates that more than 30 thousand migrants are in route to Mexico from Panama and the countries of Central America.

On Monday, Haitian migrants forcibly entered the provisional offices of Comar in the Los Cerritos Ecological Park, south of Tapachula. They tore down fences and overcame elements of the National Guard who tried to contain them to demand asylum procedures.

The southern border is experiencing a new wave of migration this year and only Comar estimates that at the end of 2023 a new record of asylum requests will be imposed with 150 thousand, that is, 16 percent more than in 2021 when the historic figure reached to 129 thousand applications.
