Air travel in Latin America suffers a significant rise in prices

The Latin American airline industry is resilient to the crisis generated by the pandemic, high interest rates, and skyrocketing jet fuel prices, but travelers’ pockets are suffering.

Air tickets in Latin America and the Caribbean have suffered significant fluctuations in recent years and the end of 2023 could be no exception.

The impact would be due to factors ranging from the high price of fuel, which could be complicated by the war in the Middle East, and the other operating costs of airlines amid inflation, to the economic situation in the region and the regulatory landscape.

The prices of the main air destinations in Latin America present a mixed dynamic, since while routes such as Buenos Aires-Cancún rose by 5% for travel in the next three months and Mexico City – Medellín had an increase of 16%, others such as São Paulo-Santiago de Chile are 13% cheaper, according to figures from the Viajala price comparison platform provided to Bloomberg Línea.
