The authorities already have a possible hypothesis about what caused the attack.

An armed group attacked an indigenous family in the municipality of Zoquitlán, Puebla. In total, four people were murdered and their home was burned down, two adults and two minors. The victims were identified as Angélica “N” and Uriel “N”, as well as their children, one nine and the other six years old.

Local media reports indicated that residents of the area heard gunshots and later a fire broke out in the house where the four people lived.

For his part, the governor of the entity, Sergio Salomón, condemned the events through his social networks and assured that the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) is already investigating what happened over the weekend.

“Regardless of the motive that the ministerial authority determines, violence in any of its expressions will always be condemnable, even more so when it involves innocent people,” the governor  wrote on social networks on Sunday, October 8.

What would have been the origin of the attack against the family?

The SSP of Puebla detailed a possible hypothesis about what happened, the violent actions would be linked to “the criminal problem that occurs in the area bordering the state of Veracruz,” according to the authorities’ report.

“The SSP will collaborate with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) in order to provide the necessary information that contributes to the clarification of this event.” In a video shared on social networks you can see part of the fire in the house, despite the efforts of people to try to put out the flames, they consumed the structure made of sheet metal and wood.

Some relatives of the victims reported that disappearances of people and property charges have been reported in the area for several years, according to local media. Likewise, the residents asked that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) take the case.

Violence in Veracruz and Puebla linked to “Malverde”

It is worth remembering that on October 5, the Attorney General’s Office of Puebla reported that it is working with local and federal authorities to find the location of a subject nicknamed Malverde who is accused of being responsible for the wave of violence on the border with Veracruz.

“As the Prosecutor’s Office, we are going to intensify what we are doing on the borders between the two entities, we are even coordinating with local and federal authorities to take important action,” were the statements of prosecutor Gilberto Higuera Bernal.

And between September 28 and 30, human remains were found in the municipality of Cañada de Morelos, Puebla that would originate from Veracruz.

While in other actions, on August 29, Eder “N” was captured by Puebla authorities, a 33-year-old man who is identified as the alleged ringleader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) and who would be related to the discovery of several bodies found in Poza Rica, Veracruz.

Eder “N” was detained in the municipality of Huauchinango, in Puebla because according to the authorities he sought refuge in that entity along with other people, although he operated in Veracruz.

The R15 and/or El Petrolero, as it is known, was identified as a priority objective and on September 5 it was linked to the process. But he hasn’t been the only one.

Likewise, on July 24, the Veracruz Prosecutor’s Office presented a scheme about a criminal cell that would be linked to the CJNG. At the top of the image shared by the authorities you can see a subject identified as a regional leader of organized crime and from whom operational commanders who have already been captured can be seen.
