Properly Clean Your Microwave

1. Clean the microwave turntable

The turntable is probably where the food gets spilled the most after each use. So, this is the first thing you need to do when cleaning the microwave.

If your household’s microwave has a turntable, remove it according to the manufacturer’s instructions. After removing all food debris, clean the microwave turntable with dish soap and dry it with a soft cloth.

2. Clean the inside of the microwave

While heating food, you cannot avoid the case of sauce or grease splashing inside the microwave. So, to clean the inside of the microwave, first use a damp cloth to wipe it. Then wipe it again with dishwashing liquid to ensure removing all food residues in the microwave. Finally, wipe it dry once more with a clean cloth.

In case you have to deal with stubborn dried food stains inside the microwave, you can refer to the following tricks. Use 4 tablespoons of baking soda mixed with 4 cups of water. After mixing the mixture well, use a cloth to spread the mixture on the hardened food stains inside the microwave. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe it off with a soft cloth and clean water, the stubborn stains will be easily removed.

Another method that many housewives also use when cleaning the microwave is using white vinegar. Place a bowl of water mixed with white vinegar in a ratio of 1:1 inside the microwave. Then, heat the microwave at a high temperature for about 5 minutes. At this time, steam will be emitted around the microwave, making your cleaning task easier than ever.

Besides the two cleaning methods with baking soda and white vinegar mentioned above, using lemon is also a method that many families apply. Especially when using lemon, you can also solve the problem of unpleasant odors that often occur in the microwave.

To perform this method, place a bowl of water with lemon juice inside the microwave. Then, heat the microwave at a high temperature from 4 to 6 minutes. At that time, the water will evaporate inside the microwave. Wait for the temperature inside to decrease a bit, and then you can quickly and easily wipe it clean. This method helps keep the microwave clean and subtly smell of lemon.

3. Clean the outside of the microwave

When cleaning the microwave, don’t just pay attention to the inside, you also need to clean the outside of the microwave. These tasks are also very simple. Mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid with water and soak a soft cloth in it, then wipe all visible surfaces of the microwave. The control panel area is where you need to pay more attention to cleaning because during usage, grease from our hands can stick there. The next step is to wipe the exterior of the microwave with a damp cloth and then with a dry cloth.
