If the Word files are already on the Desktop, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the first Word file and minimize it by clicking the minimize icon next to the “X” symbol at the top right corner of the Screen.

Step 2: Double-click the second Word file you want to open. Now you can have two Word files open simultaneously on your computer.

How to Split the Screen and Work with Two Word Files Simultaneously

If you need to work with two Word files that have related data, you can split the screen into two parts to display the files side by side. Follow the steps below:

Using the Taskbar Command

Step 1: Open both Word files in full screen mode.

Note: Close all other files and software, keeping only the two Word files you want to use.

Step 2: Right-click on the Taskbar, and a dialog box with multiple options will appear. In the third category, choose one of the following:

  • Show windows side by side: The two Word files will be located on the left and right sides of the screen. You can drag and drop to adjust the size and position of the files.
