Basically, sometimes things happen. Not everyone is Aware if someone is okay or not. A person could have trouble breathing but nobody in their surroundings would have a clue, so i want to add that point here that i would make my pet understand that how to check if a person, It could be anyone, is fine, breathing. If something is not fine, My pet should be able to aware people around it about the person who is suffering.
