Drake loses $600,000 bet on Joshua vs Ngannou Saudi fight

After British-Nigerian former world champion Anthony Joshua defeated UFC title holder Francis Ngannou in their heavyweight match in Saudi Arabia, award-winning Canadian rapper and singer Drake lost a massive $600,000 wager.Since becoming well-known two years ago for his fight gambling, the 37-year-old musician has experienced both significant victories and losses.

If the Cameroonian fighter had knocked out Joshua, Drake would have won $2 million from his $600,000 wager, according to the Mirror, on Ngannou to defeat Joshua.

However, in the second round of their eagerly awaited high-profile matchup, Joshua—a previous two-time world champion—eventually defeated MMA veteran Ngannou via knockout.

In their Misfits Boxing match last year, Drake placed a major wager on YouTube boxer Logan Paul to defeat Conor McGregor's training partner Dillon Danis. After Danis was disqualified in the last round for attempting to strangle Paul unconscious and creating a major brawl in the ring, the rapper was awarded $1.3 million.

In addition, Drake did not receive $920,000 after Israel Adesanya was defeated by Sean Strickland for the UFC middleweight title. Drake was hoping that Adesanya would defeat Strickland in their world title match, but Strickland pulled off a surprise victory on points.

After dropping his first two fights to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua has now won four straight. Three of those victories have come via knockout.

After knocking out Ngannou in the second round of the fight, the 34-year-old began 2024 with victories over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, and Otto Wallin in 2023.
