If you haven't already watched Season 3, stop reading this post, turn on the TV right away, and return after you're done. It's still available on Netflix.

The third season of Sex Education can be described as..., as long as you're an obsessive fan who has binge-watched the series. He and Maeve have said farewell following their ups and downs of a friendship, a relationship, and an unspoken love for one another. Eric and Adam were 'official' and then split up again, Jean is expecting, Otis and Ruby split, and all of these events have occurred.

After advocating for abstinence and confessing to Otis her difficulties with in vitro fertilization, headmistress Hope Haddon (Jemima Kirke) is still in charge of Moordale High, and Aimee is currently on a feminism-inspired quest of self-discovery.

Will the Cast remain the same?

Allison, played by Tanya Reynolds, and Simone Ashley, who played Olivia in the acclaimed Netflix period drama Bridgerton last year, will regrettably not appear in the next season, but there are plenty of other well-known characters who will be making a comeback to Moordale High.

Both Ncuti Gatwa (Eric) and Aimee Lou Wood (Aimee) will reprise their roles for the fourth season, it has been revealed.

Wood, who portrays Aimee on the program, spoke candidly about it with the Radio Times and hinted that the cast's final season might be the fourth.

Regarding the prospect of playing her character indefinitely, she replied, "I'm not sure because there's a part of me that could just do it forever." However, a part of me also thinks, "No, we all have to go and do different things and play different parts."

'We can't be like 50 saying, "Freshers week!" So it's a weird one. It's a bittersweet thing because it probably is, even if it's not this series, it probably is closer now to ending than it is to the start. Which is sad but also probably in many ways, will be positive. I always think leave them wanting more as well. Always leave them wanting more.'

The actress who plays Maeve, Emma Mackey, also declared that she will leave the program after season four. The 27-year-old actress was asked about Sex Education's upcoming season while addressing with the media after winning the EE Rising Star Award at the 2023 BAFTAs. She responded,Season 5? I've just finished the fourth one last week!' Mackey then said, 'No I don't think I'll be in season 5. I've said goodbye to Maeve.'

Mackey has already hinted at the information by telling Hunger that "Sex Education is so momentous as a concept, as a show, and the cast are phenomenal. I genuinely care about them all a lot and I made lifelong friends. But the bittersweet nature of it is that I also can't be 17 my whole life."

The actor had told ELLE US of her hopes for her character in season four: 'I'm excited for her to make some new friends, to open up a bit more and be exposed to a different culture, to a different kind of world. Because she's only ever lived in her little tiny bubbles. How is she out of that bubble?'

Dan Levy, the Schitt's Creek Emmy winner, has joined the cast for the upcoming season. He will play Thomas, Maeve's American tutor at her Ivy League institution and a character played by Emma Mackey.

Thaddea Graham (Doctor Who), Marie Reuther (Kamikaze), Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, and Imani Yahshua are among the additional actors joining the show.

Most recently, in February 2023, it was revealed that the legendary Jodie Turner-Smith would also join the season 4 cast. However, we are still unsure of what role she may play.

You may or may not see me in a little Netflix show called Sex Education,' the actress told reporters during the BAFTAs red carpet, according to Variety. 'First of all all my scenes were with Ncuti Gatwa who – I DIE for him – and he's my favourite character on the show...So when he called me and asked me to do it I was like, I don’t care how much they're paying I’m doing [it].'

As well as Gatwa and Wood, other series regulars returning to the hit show are Asa Butterfield (Otis), Gillian Anderson (Jean), Mackey (Maeve), Connor Swindells (Adam), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson), Mimi Keene (Ruby), George Robinson (Isaac), Chinenye Ezeudu (Vivienne), Dua Saleh (Cal), Alistair Petrie (Michael) and Samantha Spiro (Maureen).

Unfortunately, Rakhee Thakrar, who plays the character of teacher Emily Sands, has announced she won't be back for the popular show's fourth season.

'I'm not part of the new series,' she told Daily Star Sunday. 'I can't really talk about why. But I'm so proud of the show and grateful to have been part of something so important. There is nothing bad about Sex Education.'

Reynolds, who plays Lily Iglehart, earlier declared that she will not be returning for the upcoming season in July 2022, just a few days after her fictional lover Ola (played by Patricia Allison) made the same declaration. Reynolds informed Digital Spy that "Lily is not coming back either." "Her storyline was just nicely resolved at the conclusion of season three." She had a really happy ending, so there are no loose ends to tie up.

The actor who plays Remi Milburn in the show, James Purefoy, has also shared his thoughts on a potential season two comeback. "They were shooting season three while I was filming Pennyworth for HBO Max." I have no idea if that made them decide against letting me in. I adore Sex Education; it's a great show," he told Digital Spy.

'Remi, he's such a d*ck in so many ways, but at the conclusion of his current story, he kind of pulls it back. Under all the bluster, you actually get a feeling of how lonely and miserable that man is,' he continued.
