Protests rock, Ondo, Ogun over late musician, Mohbad

Tuesday saw demonstrations by young people in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, and in Ogun State, calling for justice for the late Nigerian artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, well known as Mohbad.
Hundreds of Demonstrators screamed "Justice for Mohbad" as they marched through the streets wearing black shirts in memory of the late musician.

Some carried signs that read, among other things, "Say No to Marlian Music," "Justice for Mohbad," and "We Want a Coroner's Inquest into Mohbad Death."

As the demonstrators marched via NEPA, Arakale, and Oba Adesida roads, security personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) could be seen surrounding them.

The protest caused traffic congestion among major cities.

Ajulo Sunday, one of the demonstrators, stated that they wanted the individual who killed Mohbad to face justice.

He said: Mohbad's sudden death has highlighted a number of problems in the music business. His passing ought to act as a caution to other music publishing companies that support unethical behavior.

We want justice for Mohbad, he continued, thus we want the police to employ all forensic, technical, and other essential resources that are pertinent to the investigation of homicide cases of this kind in support of their investigation process.

In addition, Awolumate Iremide questioned why nothing was done prior to Mohbad's passing while noting that Mohbad allegedly filed a police petition against Sam Larry and others after being abused during a video shoot with Zlatan Ibile.
