Why Poor Nigerians Regrets Voting For Tinubu

The impact of removing fuel subsidies and raising the price at the pump from N195 per liter to N617, which is even sold up to N700 per liter in some states is significantly telling on poor Nigerians across the country. According to organic confessions obtained, many Nigerians who voted for the All Progressive Congress (APC) led government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have regrets.

One such citizen is Adamu Salihu, a Kano resident, who said he and his family members voted for President Bola Tinubu in the last elections but lamented rising fuel prices which made their lot worse.

Crying bitterly over his travails, Salihu, who said he was from Bichi LGA in Kano State, and said he might be forced to turn to crime if the situation continued without anything being done because it was not what they were promised in the election. campaign.

His words: “Honestly, this hardship hit us really hard. We didn't vote for that. My children and I voted the current government but what we are served contradicts what we asked for. “I am a Nigerian and I deserve to be treated well. I am no longer a teenager, I have children and they too voted for APC. If nothing changes, I will ask them very soon to stop voting because they are no longer going to school and have started selling Awara.

"I can't afford sending them to school now and they are selling 'Awara' now. How can they be denied education and start haggling? I have been in politics since the days of NRC and SDP. If this continues, we can take countermeasures. if our legislators and representatives do nothing about it. We can take the law into our own hands.

“All these inconveniences we are facing are due to the increase in the price of fuel, otherwise we won't suffer as much. We don't have good representation."

In the right perspective, as good as it sounds in the mouths of the government and in the eyes of some, eliminating the fuel subsidy is more like pulling a bad tooth out before thinking about anesthesia, rather than the other way around.

However, no matter how much tears the masses sheds or how hard their conditions increases due to the subsidy removal, there's no going back from the decision. President Tinubu once said during his campaign that no matter any form of protest against subsidy removal, he would not back down.
