Protest rocks FUOYE as missing nursing student found dead

Students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) have taken to the streets to protest the tragic demise of their fellow Student, Miss Modupe Deborah Atanda, who was initially reported missing. The university’s management confirmed the heartbreaking news of the passing of this second-year nursing student, who was discovered in a shallow grave.

Since the confirmation of her death late on Wednesday, the student body has been vocal in expressing their deep sorrow and discontent over this grievous incident. In a poignant display of solidarity, students gathered at the university’s entrance, brandishing placards with various messages, all united in their call for justice.

In a video capturing the protest, shared on @Ekititrends, the president of the institution’s Students’ Union Government, Comrade Ajayi Dotun Emmanuel, addressed the grieving students. He assured them that the union would relentlessly pursue justice for their fallen colleague. He urged students to remain vigilant about their own safety and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

With determination, he emphasized, “I want to assure you that her body was not mutilated. Her body is intact. We are going to get the justice that we deserve. We don’t care how many doors we have to open, how many offices we have to go to before getting that justice, we are going to get it.”

He called upon all 43,000 FUOYE students to stand together as a unified force during this trying time. He stressed the importance of maintaining heightened security awareness and urged swift reporting of any unusual or concerning behavior.

This heart-wrenching event has galvanized the FUOYE community, prompting them to come together in a poignant demonstration of support for their departed peer and a resolute demand for justice. As they mourn the loss of Modupe Deborah Atanda, their collective determination to seek answers and accountability remains unwavering.
