Seun Kuti, the Grammy-nominated afrobeat artist, made headlines with his extraordinary act of generosity. Following his release from detention earlier this year, stemming from an incident where he was caught on video slapping a police officer, Kuti took immediate action to improve the conditions he had experienced in Panti prison.

During a recent Instagram live session with his fans, Kuti revealed that he had personally funded the renovation of his former prison cell, which included upgrading the showers and tiles, all on the same day he regained his freedom.

Furthermore, Kuti extended his goodwill beyond his own experience. He expressed his commitment to supporting rapper Naira Marley, who had recently been detained in connection with the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the death of his former signee, Mohbad. Kuti's intention to provide assistance during Naira Marley's detention demonstrates his dedication to charitable endeavors, even in the face of adversity.

 "The day I got home from Panti cell, I sent money for the renovation of the cell, toilet, showers and tiles.”

“If you think I’m lying, go to Panti and verify. I renovated the cell I stayed in because I can go back there tomorrow.”

“At least Naira Marley can enjoy my charity there.”
