Ron Desantis is a bit of an oddity these days among top-tier presidential contenders. He was born in a time when computers were widely used in American homes, after the Vietnam War, and he still has young children of his own rather than a large enough number of grandchildren to field a basketball team.
If elected, DeSantis would be 46 on inauguration day, making him the youngest leader since John F. Kennedy. Although he doesn’t mention it directly, his campaign aims to make sure voters understand it.
The governor of Florida, who maintains a full schedule of morning and evening activities, repeatedly mentions possessing the “energy and discipline” required for the White House. He frequently discusses his young children, ages 6, 5, and 3, who have joined their parents on the campaign trail with his wife Casey DeSantis. DeSantis, one of the few candidates with children still living at home, frequently brings up his parents’ concerns about the media and pop culture as he pushes his right-wing social agenda.

Only 36% of those who were registered to vote agreed with that statement about Trump, indicating that DeSantis’ relative youth might work to his benefit in the general election rather than the primary.
DeSantis, 44, doesn’t often address his age, and the party he represents is older and more white than the country as a whole. As a result, the party hasn’t a reputation for choosing young presidential nominees who ride a wave of enthusiasm to the White House, as Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama did.
DeSantis has fallen out of favor with many people in his generation due to his hardline stances on topics like abortion, climate change, and how race is taught, among other things. Since the Kennedys, no presidential family has raised children as young as the DeSantis clan, raising dreams for a Republican Camelot in the White House.
