It is no understatement that BMW cars are known for their impressive performance on the road. BMW i4 is no different. The base variants of the BMW i4, eDrive 35, and eDrive 40 are powered by a single motor on the rear wheel. The power output of these two trims is 281 and 335 horsepower, respectively. However, I’m most impressed by the top-of-the-line M50 trim.
M50 trim of BMW i4 can go from 0 to 60 in just 3.3 seconds. It is an all-wheel drive electric sports car. Dual motors on the front and rear wheels produce a combined power output of 536 hp. M50 can jump from 50 to 70 mph in less than 0.7 seconds.
The driving range of the BMW i4 is also impressive. The base variants eDrive 35 and 40 can go up to 260 miles and 300 miles on a single charge, respectively. Even though the range for the M50 trim drops down to 245 miles, these figures still put the BMW i4 right in league A electric cars.
The eDrive 40 and M50 BMW i4 are laced with a battery pack of 81.5 kWh. The base variant eDrive 35, comes with a smaller battery pack of 66 kWh. BMW i4 uses 200 kW DC fast charging technology to juice up its battery pack. It means that you can add up to 108 miles of driving range to your BMW i4 at a DC fast charging station.
Overall, the BMW i4 is an amazing prospect in the category of electric sports cars. It has a practical hatchback body design and an amazing riding balance. That too at an affordable price!
2. Porsche Taycan
Porsche cars can beat the wind, and it is no joke. If one had to describe the upcoming Porsche Taycan in two words, they would be absurdly quick. Taycan is offered in five different trim levels. The base price starts at $88,150 and quickly jumps up to $188,850 for the top variant.
The power output of Taycan varies with the size of the battery. The rear-wheel drive base trim of the Porsche Taycan can produce somewhere between 402 and 469 hp. Next up, we have the 4S and GTS trims. The power output of these two trims is capped at 562 and 590 hp, respectively.
The real deals are the Turbo and Turbo S trims of Porsche Taycan. The power output of top trims can go up to 670 and 750 hp. Thanks to these power figures, Porsche Taycan Turbo S can kill the 60 mph marker in 2.4 seconds. So, yeah, it is insanely quick.
All trims of the Porsche Taycan are either offered with a large-sized 93.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack or a smaller version with 83.7 kWh capacity. The efficiency of its battery pack hasn’t impressed the users as the driving range of all variants lies between 206 and 246 miles. These figures are disappointingly low considering the price tag of $188,850.
Now what impressed us is the 800-Volt charging infrastructure of the Porsche Taycan. With the installed charging hardware, Porsche Taycan can be charged at a maximum power rating of 270 watts. So, at a DC fast charger, Porsche Taycan can be recharged from 5 to 80% in 23 minutes.
If you’re looking to kill it on the road with seriously quick acceleration, then you would love the Porsche Taycan. However, I feel like power and acceleration aside, Taycan has low-range figures. If Porsche can find a way to deal with that, Taycan is not a bad electric sports car at all.
3. Audi e-Tron GT
Seeing the third German-made car one after the other on this list should not surprise you. Audi e-Tron GT has sporty acceleration and futuristic looks. Just like other Audi models, e-Tron GT boasts a comfortable ride and offers a wide range of smart features.
Audi e-Tron GT is offered in three different trim levels. The base premium plus trim can produce 522 horsepower. The power output goes up to 560 hp for the mid-Prestige variants. The top-of-the-line RS variant is the most powerful of all. It can shock and rock your world with 637 hp. Audi e-Tron GT has impressive 0-60 mph figures. The top RS variant can do the deed in 2.9 seconds, while the premium plus trim will reach 60 mph in 3.6 seconds.
Each Audi e-Tron GT is equipped with an 83.7 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The range of premium plus, prestige, and RS variants is rated at 238, 235, and 232 miles, respectively. Independent testing has shown that all trims can surpass the range claimed by the company.
The driving range is not something to love about Audi e-Tron GT, but at least it achieves what the company claims. Audi e-Tron GT features a 270 kW DC fast charging infrastructure. So, if maximum power is provided, e-Tron can be recharged from 5 to 80% in less than 23 minutes.
In short, if you ignore the average driving range of the Audi e-Tron GT, it is a capable sports car. The riding experience of e-Tron is exceptionally comfortable. The use of recycled leather-free materials gives a fresh look to the interior of the Audi e-Tron GT.

4. Piech Mark Zero GT
There is a lot of buzz around the upcoming Piech Mark Zero GT. From the looks of it, I’m sure that Piech GT is going to be an amazing sports electric car. The manufacturer has promised that Piech Mark Zero will have the typical handling and response of a sports car.
What caught my eye was the insanely fast charging battery of Piech Mark Zero. The company, which is an offshoot of the Volkswagen group, claims that the battery pack of Piech GT will be recharged from 5 to 80% in less than 8 minutes.
The maximum DC power and other stats are yet to be made available. So far, we can only tell that this battery will be manufactured by a Chinese company Desten which specializes in auto batteries. With this battery pack, Piech Mark Zero GT will be able to go as far as 311 miles.
The powertrain of the Piech Mark Zero GT will include a trio of motors. With two motors on the rear axle and one on the front, the maximum output will reach 600 hp. This will be enough to take Piech GT from 0-60 mph in less than 2.7 seconds. The pricing of Piech Mark Zero GT is expected to start around the mark of $225,000.
5. Tesla Roadster
Tesla Roadster is probably the most anticipated sports electric car of the year. It is a car that is expected to be much cheaper than supercars such as Rimac Nevera and Lotus Evija. But in terms of performance, Tesla Roadster will be capable of taking on any supercar.
