Discovering the True Motivation Behind Your Actions

Do you ever take a moment and think about the true Motivation behind your actions? There is evidence showing that they “why” is equally important not just their experience, extraordinary skills, or an unwavering drive, although these feel important too.

There was a time I didn’t really think about “why” I wanted to Achieve something and simply set goals because that was the expectation from the world around me.

Why did you choose your path? Why do you dedicate countless hours to what you want to be, do, and have? Why do you sacrifice sleep, burn the midnight oil, and rise early, all to nurture your passion and purpose?

The “why” is what ultimately propels you toward success, but here’s the crucial point: it’s unique for each individual. Your “why” is not the same as mine, and mine differs from others. It’s a deeply personal reason that is often very close to your heart.

For as long as I can remember all I wanted to do was write, make art, and help people and I invested time, money and energy to make that happen. But my why is deeply rooted in “I want to show the world what’s possible, despite the odds stacked against me”.

So many times in my life since I was 8, people told me I would not be successful and I wouldn’t achieve anything in my life. My journey did indeed start with the need to prove something, and as I started my healing journey, the why shifted into simply having freedom and adventure to be, do, and have what I want.

So, what’s your significant “why”? It could be the freedom to travel, the opportunity to be with your family, the capacity to take extended leaves to care for ailing loved ones, or even the means to support a cherished charity.

No matter what it may be, your “why” is the driving force behind every action you take. When setting goals for the year, reflect on whether those goals propel you closer to or further from your overarching “why.” Contemplating a new business venture? Ensure it harmonizes with your fundamental “why,” and suddenly, success becomes far more attainable.
