Feeling Uninspired and Disconnected from your work?

Do you ever find yourself feeling Uninspired and disconnected from the work you do in the world? Maybe you used to feel passionate and motivated, but lately, it’s been a struggle to find that same energy.

That was me in October of last year until about a month ago when I finally decided to shift gears with a small rebrand of sorts and kick off this new blog.

It’s not that I didn’t believe in the importance of what I’m doing – I do. I know that the work I’m doing has the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives. But I found myself struggling to find the passion and motivation that used to drive me. I think in some circles they call this burnout.

Ever since I started this new blog I’ve been reenergized and excited about the work that I do, but it was more about the clarity of my own direction in life and business.

I started being outside in nature more and really just focused on what I wanted to put out in the world rather than what other people expect me to put out in the world. So many times, we can find ourselves in a box we fight so hard to not be in.

So for 6 months, I worked on finding my way back on track because I had to work through what I was feeling and this is what I discovered:

Take time out to reflect on the root cause of the feelings of disconnection. I had to think about if I was burned out from working too hard and doing too much. It wasn’t that I had lost sight of my purpose but more than I felt a bit unfulfilled with how I was sharing it with the world.

And I know that sometimes, the best thing you can do is to take some time off to recharge. Whether it’s a vacation or just a long weekend, stepping away from your work can help you gain some perspective and come back feeling refreshed and energized. Here’s the thing, for me it’s been a Walk in the woods and these days I dry to get one walk in per day.

I meet with my accountability partner every week and have shared with her that I’ve struggled with my business and what I wanted to look like and the work I really wanted to do. Talking to other people who are passionate about the same things you are can be incredibly inspiring. Whether it’s joining a community group or attending a networking event, surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals can help you stay motivated and engaged.

All of these feeling uninspired and disconnected feelings I have had for several months made me realize that I put little thought into my own self-care. And when I went to the doctor in December with some not-so-great test results I knew it had to be put into the forefront. I sleep between 7-8 hours a night, go for a walk per day (not always successful but I try) and I changed my food habits.

It’s important to take care of yourself both physically and mentally. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising regularly. Take time to do things you enjoy, whether that’s reading a book, listening to music, or spending time with friends and family.

Feeling uninspired and disconnected from your work can be a difficult and frustrating experience. But by taking some proactive steps, you can start to rediscover your passion and find a renewed sense of purpose in what you do. So take a deep breath, and remember that it’s never too late to make a change.
