National DIY Day is celebrated on April 2 to celebrate creativity. The Craft Box Girls team started it in 2016 and the day has been observed since then. Often, these DIY hacks don’t take up much of your time and inspire your creativity and perhaps, unearth hidden talents. 

You can use these skills in a variety of ways, from home renovation projects to making handmade products and more. On April 2, you can use the following hacks to make something for those around you.

Reusing Old Clothes

One of the best things you can do on National DIY Day is repackage your old clothes and take them to institutions that need them. For example, children’s homes and homes for needy people. Ensure that you’ve mended the torn areas, fixed loose helm lines and even ironed the clothes.

You’ve probably seen homeless people sleeping on cartons and thin blankets that barely protect them from the cold. On National DIY Day, you can create a homeless bag using recycled materials and hand them to those who need them.

Prepare fast dishes like noodles, package them in silicon containers and create a temporary stand in the place of your distribution. You can convert the back of your car, if it’s suitable, into a food truck or create a temporary stand.

If you’re doing home renovations, you can repurpose the boxes into handcrafted items. From making tags to creating storage spaces, there’s plenty you can generate. We have so many electrical wires lying around in our homes or workplaces. One of the easiest hacks you can try on National DIY Days is to collect toilet rolls and use them as a store for your wires. Introduce this idea to your friends and help them solve their tech problems.

You can use your kitchen ingredients to make DIY face and hair masks and share them with your friends and family. You can also gift them to someone who needs them to help them deal with common skin and hair issues. Ensure you encourage them to visit a healthcare provider if the issue persists.

Creating a tapestry takes time but when the piece is done, you can use it in multiple ways. These handwoven pieces can be used as doormats, tablemats and for home decor among other uses.
