Kyalami Racing Track – South Africa
The Kyalami race track is located in Gauteng, South Africa. It was built in 1961 and was used when South Africa hosted the Formula One Grand Prix between 1967 and 1985. It’s also hosted the World Superbike Championship and A1GP.
The track has undergone several renovations to add some facilities. It was resurfaced to meet international standards, in addition to the pit building, circuit safety, and upgrading of spectator stands.
This enabled the Kyalami race track to be certified as a Grade 2 track by the Federation International de l’Automobile (FIA).

Marrakech Street Circuit – Morocco
The race track also referred to as the Marrakech racetrack, officially goes by the name Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan. It was named after the crown prince of Morocco and is based in the Agdal District. The facility was opened in 2009 and can hold 10,000 fans.
The circuit has a grade 2 certification from the FIA. It hosts some of the biggest motor racing events in Africa, like the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTRC) and the Formula E. Previously, it hosted the Auto GP between 2012 and 2014. The track is 2.971 km with 14 turns.

Killarney Motorracing Complex – South Africa
The Killarney race track was opened in 1951 in Cape Town, South Africa. Eight years later, it was upgraded to fit the FIA standards. The following year, it hosted its first international Formula One competition.
Over the years, it’s become a rounded circuit with the ability to multiple disciplines like karting, stock car racing, drag racing, and motocross. The circuit also hosts the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The track is 3.267 Km and has nine turns.

Prince George Circuit – South Africa
Prince George Circuit is based in East London in Eastern Cape, South Africa. The track hosted the Grand Prix events in 1934, 1936 to 1939, and 1960 & 1966. The original circuit was 24.461 Km but was shortened twice; first, between 1936 and 1939, to 18.619 Km, and in 1956, to 3.920 Km, its current length.

Autodromo de Luanda
The racetrack is based in Luanda, Angola. It opened in 1972, closed in 1975, and reopened in 2000. It’s located in the Belas District, close to Mussolo Bay.
The first competition held on the circuit was a racing car event won by Helder de Sousa. It also hosted sports car races until its closure due to the Civil War. Since its reopening, it has hosted different events organized by the local federation.
There are growing calls to have Formula One return to Africa. South Africa is the target destination as it previously hosted the World Championship. It’ll be interesting to see its impact on the development of tracks across the continent.
