5 Black Celebrity Donors That Pay off Student Loans

In the pursuit of higher education, many students find themselves burdened with the weight of Student loan debt. However, amidst this struggle, several Black celebrity donors have stepped forward as beacons of hope, using their platforms and resources to ease the financial burden for countless students.

Here are the seven celebrity donors that pay off student loans.

1. Nicki Minaj

They don’t call her the Queen for nothing. Nicki Minaj has always proved why she deserves her crown. She has consistently assisted students and helped pay off their debts. One such ocean is when she teamed up with supermarket retailer Walmart and TV host Ellen DeGeneres to offer three students a debt-free education.

The rapper and DeGeneres presented the students with checks for $50,000 each. The beneficial names were Jacob, Chrissy, and Lauren.

The award-winning singer gave Destiny James a scholarship worth $50,000. This was just after donating several thousand dollars to a high school.

According to The State, Destiny Paris James’ past scholarship essay led Drake to help pay for James’ tuition. The scholarship essay highlighted the challenges of growing up in a single-parent, low-income home. Drake gifted Destiny the scholarship during his God Plan music video shoot.

4. Beyoncé

Renowned singer and performer Beyoncé has been known for her philanthropic efforts and commitment to giving back to the community. One of the ways she has done this is by providing scholarships to support young students pursuing higher education.

In 2017, Beyoncé launched the Formation Scholars program, which awarded scholarships to women attending four selected universities in the United States. The scholarships aim to support the next generation of female leaders in various fields, including:

  • Arts
  • Music
  • Literature
  • African-American studies.
