Sadghuru: Tips on How to Stop Overthinking

The moment you get identified with something other than what you really are, the activity of the mind begins. You cannot stop it.” Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev

We can say you’re Overthinking when your mind drowns in compulsive thinking. In that instance, it focuses on the one thing you’re thinking of, and nothing else seems to matter. This may sound normal, but Sadghuru disagrees.

No ethnic group is immune to overthinking. Thus people of African heritage, including African Americans, can learn how to stop the mental diarrhoea that leaves on lethargic.

Here’s what Saghuru has to say.

How to Stop Overthinking

1. Dis-Identify Yourself With Things That Don’t Define You

Just like diarrhoea leaves you weak, so does overthinking leave you with little energy. So, stay away from things identified with you that you’re not. Know what you are and what you aren’t.

2. Leave Behind the Identities

Distance yourself from such identities. As a result, your mind calms down, and you can function normally.

3. Clear Your Mind Before Bed

Unload everything that isn’t you before hitting the pillow. Do the clothes your wear represent you? Does the house you live in reflect you? If not, leave those things.

Sadghuru emphasizes that to stop overthinking, dissociate yourself from identities. And you’ll feel a surge of energy run through your body.
