While performing impersonation stints for public figures like boxer Mike Tyson, he realized that it was easier for women to get opportunities to perform on stage. So he chose Jamie as his first name as it sounded female. And Foxx was the name of his favorite comedian. And that marks the beginning of Jamie Foxx Movies.

The African American actor and songwriter’s career has grown over the years. He’s the second man in history to have received two acting Oscar nominations within a year for the movies, Collateral and Ray.

2. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2020)

Maxwell Dillon, played by Jamie, is a quiet and lonely man who yearns for admiration from others. He is continuously pushed about by everyone around him, making him feel inadequate. 

Max suppresses a lot of rage as a result of these memories. In one instance, he imagines angrily scolding his supervisor for failing to acknowledge him as the owner of the power grid’s designs. 

Spiderman saves Dillion and encourages him to gain confidence. As a result, Max’s admiration of Spiderman grows tenfold.

3. Ray (2004)

In the movie Ray, Jamie Foxx portrays the life of Charles Robinson. Arethra, Ray’s mom, brings him up in poverty. His younger brother drowned, and Ray became blind at the age of 7. Despite this, his mom taught him independence. 

The musical film based on a true story narrates the story of the famous blues Black American musician Ray Charles. Taylor Hackford wrote and produced the movie. And in addition to Jamie Foxx, he cast the likes of

4. Collateral (2004)

Collateral is a 2004 American classic film. Max, played by Jamie Foxx, is a Los Angeles taxi driver who dreams of owning a limo firm. He calls it an “Island Limo.” He has grown skilled at figuring out the most private facts of his passengers’ lives. And this is after 12 years on the job. All he needs to do is get a glimpse at their attire.

Then he gets Vincent (Tom Cruise) as his next passenger, and his world changes. Vincent is on a murder spree but police start thinking it’s Max.

5. Dreamgirls (2006)

An aggressive manager, Curtis Taylor Jr. (Jamie Foxx), spots a team of three musicians. The trio, Effie (Jennifer Hudson), Deena (Beyoncé Knowles), and Lorrell (Anika Noni Rose), form a music group, the Dreamettes. 

Curtis offers the African American trio a chance to become backup musicians for a national star( Eddie Murphy). He succeeds in pushing the girls into fame, but one falls out on the way while another becomes a star.

The original Dreamgirls was a music group of the 50s. 

6. The Truth About Cats and Dogs (1996)

Jamie Foxx, Janeane Garofalo, Ben Chaplin, and Umma Thurman starred in the American romantic comedy The Truth About Cats & Dogs. 

The plot is a contemporary adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac’s 1897 narrative. It follows Abby, a radio talk show host and veterinarian, who begs her model buddy Noelle to imitate her when an attractive guy expresses a fascination with her.

Howard Shore wrote the initial music score. The film received good feedback and was a box office hit upon its initial release.

7. Django Unchained (2012)

Django Unchained is an American Western movie starring Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Christoph Waltz. Others include Samuel L. Jackson and Kerry Washington.  

Django (Jamie Foxx) becomes a free black slave who works with a bounty hunter to free his wife from a brutal plantation owner.

8. Baby Driver (2017)

Although Baby Driver struggled in China, it did well in major European and North American European regions until the conclusion of its theatrical run.

Baby (Ansel Elgort) is a music-obsessed orphan and is the brilliant getaway driver for robbery master Doc. He makes sure that Doc’s fellow robber friends, including Bats (Jamie Foxx), Buddy (John Hamm), and Darling (Eiza González), get in and out of Dodge before it’s too late.  

9. Just Mercy (2019)

Bryan Stevenson (Michael B. Jordan) is a Harvard Law alumni who fights to overturn Walter McMillian’s (Jamie Foxx) conviction in the film Just Mercy. His goal is to free him from the death penalty.

The film’s themes include the quest for social justice, the preservation of optimism, and the challenge of an unjust status quo. Individuals receive blame for injustices caused by inept legal counsel, police wrongdoing, and a biased court, as opposed to fundamental racial and economic imbalances.
