WHAT IS THE MEANING OF RHE NAME OTHNIEL?

Othniel is a Hebrew name for boy with the meaning as ::- 

1,   the lion of God , God's lion

2,   the strength of God ,God's strength

The biblical name comes from the book of judges ,because Othniel was one of the judges of Israel in the old testament. He was sent by God to deliver the people of the kingdom of Israel from the oppression and disdaining actions of king of mesopotamia.

        Othniel comes from the tribe of Caleb in the tribe of Judah, He is known for his fight to set the people of Israel from the many years (8) of disturbance bybCushan-risharhaim.

    WAS OTHNIEL THE NEPHEW OF                  CALEB?

              JOSHUA 15:17  SAYS::-

"  Othniel the son of caleb's brotherKenaz , was was the one who conquered it, so Acsah became Othniels wife" 

Here the bible states that clearly that Othniel is the Nephew of Caleb, that is , the son of Caleb's brother.

          HOW WAS HIS MARRIAGE?

" Caleb said , I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage to the one who attacks and conquer kiriath- sepher.

Othniel the son of Caleb's younger brother kenaz,was the one who conquer it, so Acsah became his wife.

When Acsah married othniel ,she urge him to asked her father for a field ,as she got down from the donkey,Caleb asked her ,"what is the matter"

She said ,let me have another gift, you have already given me land in the Negev(desert) ,now please give me spring of water too.Caleb gave her the upper and lower spring"

" But when the people of Israelite cried to the Lord for help, the Lord raised up a rescuer to save them , his name was othniel the son of Caleb's younger brother Kenaz.

The spirit of the lord came upon him , And he became Israel judge. He went to war against king cu shan-rishathaim of Aram, And the lord gives othniel victory over Him.So there was peace in the land for forty years , then othniel son of kenaz died."

" the Israelite did evil in the lord's sight ,

The forgot about the lord their God , and 

They served the image of Baal and as her ah poles,

Then the lord burned with anger ahh against the Israelite

And he turneth them over to cu shan -roshathaim of Aran -na hara I'm, and the Israelite served cu shan-rishathaim for eight (8) years.

But when the people of Israelite cried to the lord for help, the Lord raised up a rescuer to save them , his name was othniel the son of Caleb's younger brother Kenaz.

1,   the spirit of God is always the enabler of men , he was the one that helped othniel to achieve what he achieved.

2,   Courage and determination is always an energizer of men , in all they set to achieve in life ,othniel was courageous to conquer the city Caleb wantwd to conquer.

3,   when we are in the will of God , we will have peace , because God himself will be the one to give us.
