In light of the purported defection of PDP members in Kogi State’s Idah Local Government, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has made fun of Senator Dino Melaye, the PDP’s nominee for governor.
On Saturday, reports that the ADC in the Idah LGA had disbanded its organization supporting Senator Dino Melaye and had switched allegiances to the PDP in advance of the Kogi State governorship poll on November 11 swept the media.
In a statement issued in response on Sunday, Adaji John, the Kogi State chairman of ADC, said that the PDP governorship candidate had been duped by con artists.
The declaration reads: “In the aforementioned video, only Dino Melaye addressed the fictitious ADC audience. Neither the alleged decampees’ ‘ADC party supplies’ nor a single audience member’s face were exposed.
Of course, a wise mind will see the fabrication of the tale. However, we were not shocked to learn that the PDP governorship candidate’s media gurus were spreading such a lie.
“To begin with, Adejo Ameadaji from the Igalogba ward is the African Democratic Congress chairman for the Idah Council Area. If it is true that someone did visit or greet Dino, it was undoubtedly with the intention of defrauding him, and they were successful.
“This development is a blatant hoax and an attempt to blackmail Dino. To the best of our knowledge, the person whose face is visible in the video is not a member of the ADC party; instead, he is an Ibaji man.
“Those faceless individuals, led by the ghost Adejoh Haruna, whom the camera purposefully avoided capturing, must have taken advantage of Melaye’s low IQ or paid him back with his own money because it is well known that Melaye is a con artist and a tutor to con artists. In this instance, the scammer is being conned.
“The press release and the 40-second film have successfully demonstrated that Melaye is a distributor of lies. We are also concerned that Mr. Melaye is already following in the footsteps of the APC and Yahaya Bello, who have been fabricating news stories about receiving a number of phony decampees.
“Unlike the governor, who was able to support his kangaroo decamping stories with some pictures, Dino Melaye was unable to do so—this is the new low of peddling fake news that the PDP candidate has been associated with for a long time, just to mislead the people of the state of their relevance,” the article stated.
Adaji John emphasized that not a single ADC member in Idah had left for the PDP and insisted that Adejo Ameadaji, not Adejoh Haruna, was the name of the Idah ADC chairman.
