In the Enugu North senatorial district, Labour Party’s Okechukwu Ezea defeats Governor Ugwuanyi

Okechukwu Ezea of the Labour Party has been proclaimed the victor of the general election held on Saturday for the Enugu North senatorial district by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC).

The results were declared early on Monday at the Nsukka INEC headquarters by the returning officer, Chukuemeka Ubaka.

According to Mr. Ubaka, Mr. Ezea received 104,492 votes in total, defeating Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who received 46,948 votes.

According to him, Simon Eze of the APC received 6,816 votes to finish third.

“In accordance with the authority entrusted to me as the returning officer, I hereby declared Ezea the winner.” Mr. Ubaka said.
