2023 Elections: Organization of Nigerian-American Professionals in Nigeria backs Obi

In the election scheduled for tomorrow, February 25, members of the Association of Nigerian-American Professionals in Nigeria (ANAPIN) have endorsed Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party‘s presidential candidate.

At a gathering held in Abuja to rally support and canvass votes for Mr. Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State, the endorsement was made official.

Chief Emma Okoro, the group’s immediate past president, who spoke at the occasion on behalf of the new leaders, explained that the group’s members are Nigerian professionals in a variety of fields of endeavor who have lived in the US but chose to return home in support of Mr. Peter Obi, who has brought new vitality to the country’s leadership.

“This year’s presidential election has given us a collection of people who have all made varied honorable contributions in a variety of fields of endeavor,” he remarked. Is it Tinubu, Atiku, Kwankwaso, or Obi? Trust me when I say that these are diligent men whose contributions to many different spheres of effect are undeniable. Everyone of them has already performed admirably someplace at some point. But given the current situation, Obi is still the finest candidate for the position they are all vying for.

“Now, without a shadow of a doubt, Peter Obi towers over all his co-contestants, whether it is a case for equity, strength, present state of mind, character, or the aptitude and competence to execute on set goals.”

The group insisted that doing so would be an action that will be appreciated by most Nigerians and even members of the global community who they emphasized, had equally identified the prodigious gifts the Labour Party candidate had to offer, while also urging the presidential candidates of other political parties to consider putting aside their ambition and lining up behind the former Anambra State Governor and well-known entrepreneur in demonstration of collective national vision for progress.

Prior to Mr. Peter Obi’s speech, the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Chief Julius Abure, regaled the audience with stories about the commanding presence of their party’s presidential candidate across the nation as they traveled to towns and states to solicit support, some of which the candidates of other political parties could not dare to enter.

In order to show their great love for Obi and their party, which Nigerians have been seeing everywhere they walked over the past several months, he congratulated them for their labor of love and urged them to turn out in large numbers on Saturday to vote.

Chief Austin Chukwudi Oguejiofor, the group’s patron, also spoke. He described PVC as an open check in every Nigerian’s hands that they could choose to spend well or mortgage for a pittance.

He praised the ANAPIN members for their dedication to advancing the country and hoped for free, fair, and peaceful general elections.

Members of the Coalition of Northern Elders in the FCT, led by the Pakacin Keffi, and Alh. Muhammad Abdullahi, the recently-retired Grand Khadi of Nasarawa State, were among the other groups and individuals present at the event. Both highlighted the national quest for equity, unity, and justice that everyone agrees the Peter Obi presidential brand represents in Nigeria.

Hon. Henry Uche Nwabueze, National Coordinator of the Obedient Movements globally and a former president of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), was also there. He was a notable delegate to the National Conference of Nigeria under the former Jonathan administration.

Other speakers included Dr. John Tor- Agbidye, a consultant neurotoxicologist, and Mr. Greg O. Imoohi, a pharmacist and the MD of Golek Pharmaceuticals Ltd. They both praised Mr. Peter Obi’s sterling qualities while highlighting how his entry into the running for president of the nation attracted interest from the diaspora as well as support and appeal from abroad.

Other community and political leaders, such as Hon. Steve Nkem, a former national secretary of the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD) and a candidate for the House of Representatives in the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections, were also present.
