A big Loss for Pakistan..Arshad Sharif's Death in Kenya


In Kenya, Arshad Sharif passed away.

While his former employers ARY News claim that he passed away in an accident, local police are conducting inquiries.

Along with shock over his reported death from the media and the public, there are also allegations of murder and foul play in the journalist's death. Sharif had recently become increasingly outspoken and critical of the unfolding political changes in Pakistan.

In the wee hours of Monday morning, TV journalist Meher Bokhari tweeted, "Arshad Sharif, not only a colleague, a brother, is no more. I haven't met a finer man from Islamabad to Moscow, from Dunya News to ARY. Killer shot. too little. Brutally enough "Still can't wrap my brain around it," she continued.

On ARY News, Sharif hosted the show Power Play. He worked as the news director for AAJ News. He was the host of the show Kyun and served as the director of news for Dunya News prior to joining Aaj.

Reactions

 In Pakistan and worldwide, outrage followed the news of Sharif's murder. The death of Sharif was "a big loss to journalism and Pakistan," according to Pakistani President Arif Alvi. Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister of Pakistan, called the murder "terrible news."

 Imran Khan, a former prime minister, expressed horror at Arshad Sharif's violent murder on Twitter, writing that Sharif "paid the greatest price for expressing the truth - his life." 


The head of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Afzal Butt, expressed his sorrow at the news and demanded an investigation into Sharif's slaying.


 The government was questioned on Twitter by journalist Kamran Khan, who also urged the Prime Minister to "take the nation in confidence." 

Close colleagues and coworkers arrived at Imran Khan  and Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad were among those who visited Sharif's residence to offer their condolences.
