Introduction

The holidays are a time for family, friends, and tradition. The first few weeks of December can be stressful enough without adding to the chaos by trying to find the perfect decorations that will make your house look absolutely F-U-N. Still, if you want to add some Christmas cheer to your home’s decor without breaking the bank (or burning out), these fun DIY projects are sure to get everyone excited about this time of year!

Update 11/27/2022

Some questions about our blog post now you can find below this paragraph:

  • How can I get cheap Christmas decorations?
  • Does Dollar tree still have Christmas stuff?
  • How can I decorate my Christmas tree with no money?
  • How can I make my house look Christmassy?

Some of the questions above maybe will help you buy cheap Christmas decorations at the dollar tree store. For example, if you want advice on how to decorate your Christmas tree with no money at all, then read this article…

1) Pom-Pom Felt Tree

  • Pom-Pom Felt Tree

This is a super easy and fun activity to do with your kids. They will love making this pom-pom tree from felt, and it’s not just for Christmas! You can use different colors of felt for each branch of the tree, but I like this idea because you can make it as long as you want to make it last longer (if you want).

2) Gift box ornaments

Gift box ornaments are a great way to add a personalized touch to your child’s Christmas tree. They are easy and inexpensive, so there is no need for you to spend all of your time decorating them. You can use any type of box—from an old shoe box or tissue box that has been sitting around the house for years (which is what we did), to one that has been used as storage for other kinds of knickknacks.

You can decorate the outside of the gift box with paint, glitter, stickers and more! We chose not only our favorite color brush but also added some gold glitter along with some polka dots for extra sparkle! Once it was dry we placed it on top of our ornament stand so people could see how pretty it looked from afar before opening them up after Christmas morning comes around

3) Red and gold holiday garland

For this project, you’ll need red and gold ribbon. You can find a variety of colors at your local craft store or online.

Once you have all your supplies gathered, it’s time to make the garland! Start by wrapping the ribbon around one end of each pole (or tree branch), then measure out how long you’d like it to be by wrapping around that pole once more. Tie off both ends with a bow at top and bottom so they’re secure but not too tight—this will prevent them from unraveling later on in use. Set aside while you work on making sure everything else is ready before starting on this part; otherwise there won’t be enough time left over from getting everything else ready before Christmas arrives tomorrow morning!

4) DIY Christmas ornament pouches

If you’re looking for a way to add some extra Christmas cheer to your little one’s stocking, this DIY ornament pouch is the perfect project. You’ll need:

  • A gift box or an empty tissue box
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon (optional)
  • Cut out the top and bottom of the box so that they’re flat, then attach a ribbon on top of it if you’d like. If not, then leave it off! 2. Fill with treats—this could be anything from candy canes, jelly beans, raisins or even cookie dough bites! 3. Tie a bow on one side of each pouch so that when your child opens their gifts on Christmas morning they will have something pretty inside them instead of just plain ol’ paper bags full o’ junk food!

5) Salt dough ornaments

You will need:

  • Salt dough ornaments
  • Water, oil and flour to make the dough. You can use corn meal or any other type of flour you want.
  • Paints if you want to paint yours instead of using a stencil design. I used acrylic paints but there are also chalkboard paints for this project!

3-5 days before Christmas Day (or longer) start making your salt dough ornaments! This could take at least 2 hours depending on how big they are and what kind of surface you use it on (like glass). Make sure to leave them alone until they dry completely before decorating them with paint because otherwise they’ll crumble back into themselves when wet again

6) Blizzard in a jar

We’re going to start with the basics. You will need:

  • A jar with a lid
  • Ice cubes (optional)

To make your own Blizzard in a Jar, fill your jar halfway with water, add two cups of ice cubes if you want them, then add three cups of shaved ice. If you don’t have any shaved ice around the house, frozen fruit works well too! Once this has cooled and hardened over night (the longer it sits out on display), remove from its container while still frozen solid and enjoy!

7) Jingle bell snowman

Materials:

  • Paper plate (or cardboard)
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes, if you don’t have any on hand or have purchased them from a craft store. You can also make your own googly eyes for this project!
  • Jingle bells to hang with the snowman’s arms and legs. I found these at Walmart in their Christmas section—they were hanging around $2/bag, which is pretty cheap compared to buying regular jingle bells online. If you don’t want to buy them at Walmart, then check out Amazon where they sell them in packs of 8-10!

Tools needed: Glue gun or tape; scissors

8) Christmasy thumbprint art

You’ll need:

  • Paint in a color of your choice. I used white, but you can use any color that you like!
  • Glitter of your choice (I used silver). If you don’t have any glitter, feel free to use some colored markers or even just plain old crayons!
  • A large paper towel or other piece of absorbent material (I used an old t-shirt) for drying the paint when it’s dry. You’ll want to do this so that the glitter doesn’t stick onto your hands and make them look gross later on down the line!

9) Snowman jars

  • Snowman jars

For just $8, you can fill a standard mason jar with glitter and sequins. Then, it’s time to hang it up! Add ribbon or string for hanging and use some hot glue to secure the lid. You can also blow out any excess glitter with a straw before storing in your home or classroom.

10) Glittering Christmas trees

Glittering Christmas trees are another great way to get your kids involved in the decorating process. You can use salt dough ornaments, or you can buy glittery ones from the dollar store. Either way, they’re easy to make and look really cool when they’re finished!
