The Delhi Police visited Brij Bhushan’s house in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday to interrogate his family members and co-workers on allegations of sexual harassment made against him by frustrated wrestlers.

The Delhi Police has taken statements from acquaintances and employees of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the head of the Wrestling Federation, at his house in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, in relation to claims of sexual harassment made against him by wrestlers. They added that the girl whose testimony served as the foundation for the POCSO Act prosecution against Singh has recorded a new statement in accordance with section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). According to the authorities, police are gathering evidence in relation to the complaint brought against the BJP MP and will present a report in court as a result.

The Delhi Police sent a team to Gonda to interview Singh’s friends, relatives, and house staff, including his driver. This is being done as part of a further inquiry to gather proof and verify the witness testimony with Singh’s and the complainants’ versions of events, an official informed news agency ANI. We cannot afford to offer details since the situation is so delicate, he added.

The crew took notes on their residences and IDs while recording the statements, according to the authorities.

Olympic medallist’s Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia are among the best wrestlers in the nation who are protesting the outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president, whom they allege of abusing women sexually. They spoke with Amit Shah, the home minister, on Saturday.  It is known that Amit Shah informed the wrestlers that everyone is still treated equally under the law.He allegedly said to the wrestlers, “Let the law take its own course.”

On May 31, the wrestlers returned to work after being expelled from Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where they had been protesting since April.

However, Mr. Punia and Ms. Malikkh have both refuted rumours that they had quit the protest. “This is how we pursue justice. We won’t back down, Ms. Malikkh said.

We have resumed our responsibilities in Railways, but we are also developing our long-term plan, she said.

In a video message, Olympian Bajrang Punia emphasised that the athletes are united and that rumours are being disseminated about them in an effort to sabotage their campaign.

Following the discussions, the farmers’ organisation Bhartiya Kisan Union postponed its planned June 9 rally in favour of the wrestlers. The wrestlers threatened to submerge their medals in the river last week to express their displeasure with the investigation into their claims.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has maintained his resolve and denied all accusations of misbehaviour.

If even one of the allegations against me is true, I’m going to hang myself. I’m willing to take any penalty, so please provide the Court with whatever proof you (the wrestlers) may have, he added.

Brij Bhushan, however, once more dismissed the protest as an emotional drama and said he would only be held accountable if the wrestlers could provide any proof.
