DIAMOND LEAUGE 2023 SAW VICTORY OF NEERAJ CHOPRA’S CAREER FOR HIS 88.67m THROW

India’s Neeraj Chopra has now hit another victory; Olympic gold champion Neeraj Chopra won at Doha Diamond League 2023 with an 88.67 m throw. Chopra’s first throw was 88.67, an outstanding beginning to the forthcoming competition.

His first throw was enough to secure the victory for him, but he persisted. Chopra’s following throw was 86.04m, which placed him ahead of Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch, who reached 88.63m, and defending world champion Anderson Peters, whose best effort is 85.88m. The Czech Republic thrower overcame Anderson Peters to take second place.

Diamond League athletic competitors are presented with points in place of medals, and the top eight competitors at the finale of the Diamond League series qualify for the Diamond League final. The championship ceremony will be place on September 16 and 17 in Eugene, Oregon.

On May 28, the Diamond League series will continue in Rabat, Morocco. Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra is scheduled to play in the Golden Spike Ostrava tournament in the Czech Republic on June 27.

Throughout his career, the 24-year-old athlete won as many as 22 medals out of which 12 are gold. Neeraj’s first medal was gold which he won in 2016 at the South Asian Games following which he had his hands on second place (Silver Medal) at the Asian Junior Championships.

He aced in as many as 20+ championships. The star athlete secured first place at the World U20 Championships (2016), Asian Championship (2017), Commonwealth (2018), Sotteville Athletics Meet (2018), Savo Games (2018), Asian Games (2018), Athletics Central North West League Meet (2020), Meeting Cidade de Lisboa (2021), Folksam Grand Prix (2021), Olympics Games (2021), Kuortane Games (2022). While all these above-mentioned championships gave him a gold medal, his last two wins at Diamond League Lausanne (2022), and Diamond League Final Zurchi gave him the top place in the points table.

In 2020 he won at the Athletics Central North West League Meet which got him qualified for the 2021 Olympic Games where he again scored the top.

Neeraj Chopra is one of those athletes with whom India is blessed. His recent win was a splendid one and he is receiving congratulatory statements including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pm Modi took to the Twitter platform to congratulate the athlete on his win.
