Urmila Matondkar, 48, joined the Shiv Sena in 2020 after leaving the Congress in September 2019 after only six months of membership.

Ms. Matondkar was talking to Gandhi while they marched while wearing a beanie cap and a traditional Kashmiri pheran (loose gown) in a cream colour.

Renowned novelist Perumal Murugan, the head of the J&K Pradesh Congress committee Vikar Rasool Wani, his predecessor GA Mir, and former minister Abdul Hamid Karra all joined them while carrying the tricolour.

The yatra, which began on September 7 in Kanyakumari, entered Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday from Punjab and arrived in Jammu city on Monday.

On the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the march is slated to stop for two nights at Ramban and Banihal before coming to an end on January 30 in Srinagar with a large rally at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.

Gandhi was accompanied by a 65-person Ladakh team, led by Ladakh Territorial Congress President Nawang Rigzin Jora, at the commencement of the yatra, and the delegation members told Gandhi about the problems and worries of their people.

Rahul Gandhi was greeted by a group of Kashmiri Pandit migrant ladies who were waiting outside the well-known Kol-Kandoli temple. The women were holding flower petals and dressed in traditional garb.

“After leaving Kashmir, we have spent the last thirty years travelling about Jammu. We came here to welcome Gandhi because he could aid in our recovery once we were back in the Valley, as Congress had previously served the community by offering employment opportunities to our young people “According to Geeta Koul, Press Trust of India.

The rehabilitation of the community, she claimed, is their top concern, and the BJP has utterly “failed” in this endeavour and “ignored us.”

After more than an hour and a half of walking, the yatra is supposed to pause and continue around 2 pm close to the Army gate Rehambal in the Udhampur district.
