On December 6, 1969, a Rolling Stones Concert Turned Tragic when Concertgoer Meredith Hunter was stabbed by a member of the Hells Angels.

The statue of Nefertiti was discovered in 1912.

On this day in 1912, a statue of Queen Nefertiti was unearthed by German archaeologists at Tell el-Amarna in Egypt. The historic artifact, now on display in Berlin’s Pergamon Museum, is still a source of friction between Egypt and Germany, with the Egyptian government accusing Germany of looting the statue.

1933: Ulysses case against James Joyce dismissed.

James Joyce’s magnum opus, Ulysses became a major success in the US after a federal judge dismissed a complaint against it and ruled that the book was not obscene. One of the most debated works of modernist literature, the novel employs a stream-of-consciousness approach.

1969: Altamont Rock Festival violence in California

On December 6, 1969, a Rolling Stones Concert Turned tragic when concertgoer Meredith Hunter was stabbed by a member of the Hells Angels. Although the event was staffed with security, the gang engaged in several altercations with the audience. Finally, four people died in this incident.

NASA published images of Mars in 2006
