Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages (LASPG), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has announced that the fare for commercial bus drivers will be reduced as directed by Governor Bababjide Sanwo-Olu. The tickets, which were previously sold for N800, will now be available for N600, and all bookings will have a 25% reduction.

For passengers, Akinsanya revealed that routes with N500 Transport Fares will now be reduced to N300, while those paying N200 will only pay N150. Additionally, commercial motorcycle (Okada) and tricycle (Keke Marwa) operators will enjoy a 25% reduction on the tickets bought from the union.

In line with these changes, MC Oluomo also announced the formation of a task force team to monitor the implementation of the directives and ensure compliance among various parks and garages. He stressed that sanctions would be imposed on defaulters.

Addressing the planned protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), MC Oluomo stated that over 50,000 members of the LASPG agency would not be participating. He emphasized that the agency and its members would be fully operational to provide Transportation Services without any disruptions, as the Lagos State Government has introduced interventions in the sector to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.

MC Oluomo expressed confidence in the conducive atmosphere created by the state government for their operations and appreciated the palliative measures taken, including the 50% reduction of government public transport and a downward review of Yellow Buses fares. He further mentioned internal measures to reduce transport fares by commercial drivers.

In conclusion, MC Oluomo firmly declined any involvement in strikes or protests and urged all members to carry out their duties without fear or intimidation. The focus remains on ensuring smooth transportation services and minimizing inconvenience for the public.
