The Management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has introduced Weekly Biometric Clearance for Community Development Service (CDS) attendance.

This was contain in a letter titled "Commencement of Weekly Community Development Service (CDS) Biometric Attendance", issued on 29th September 2023, signed by the management.

"In an effort to curb truancy amongst corps members in the course of the service year as well as ensuring transparency in the activities of Local GovernmentI nspectors (LGIS), the Director General has approved the commencement of Weekly Community Development Service (CDS) biometric attendance. 

"Accordingly, with effect from 1st Octobr, 2023, the use of the weekly CDS attendance on the NYSC Integrated System (NIS) platform will be enforced starting with the 2023 Batch "A" corps members. In this regard, corps members that fail to mark a minimum of two (2) Cds Biometric Attendance in a month, though will be allowed to do the monthly biometric clearance for the purpose of getting his/her monthly allowance, will be disciplined at the end of the service year.

"For emphasis, failure to meet a minimum of two (2) CDS weekly attendance at the end of every month will attract a minimum of two (2) weeks extension amongst other additional sanctions deemed fit by Management from time to time. Meanwhile, the exercise is expected to begin with Six (6) pilot states, namely, Lagos, FCT, Kogi, Cross River, Sokoto and Rivers

"It should be stressed that Management will leave no stone unturned in the full implementation of this policy. As such you are required to give this circular wilder circulation amongst the LGIs with a view to adequately sensitize corps members within their Local Government Areas (LGAs). Please, ensure fall compliance. Thank you," the letter reads.
