Is there a simple way to know if Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is on the altar in the main hall (Darbar Sahib) or safely kept in another room (sukhasan)? I visited a Gurdwara at 11.00 am once. The Gurdwara was open, but Darbar Sahib was empty, so I hesitated to bow (matha tek) not knowing if Guruji was present yet. I avoid going to Gurdwara on weekdays as I can't tell if Guruji is there.
