World's Scariest House

Everybody like Haunted homes because they provide a buzz from the fictitious threat they represent.

McKamey Manor

However, McKamey Manor in Summertown, Tennessee, could have gone too far. To enter Russ McKamey's haunted mansion, you must sign a 40-page release and present a doctor's certificate.

Even though McKamey first promised a $20,000 reward for finishing the task, nobody ever managed to claim it. Most only lasted a short while before pleading to be let go. Even while it would initially appear like McKamey created the most terrifying haunted house in America, if not the whole globe, hundreds of visitors argue otherwise. According to a Change.org petition with more than 170,000 signatures, the mansion is actually a violent "torture chamber under disguise" rather than an extreme haunted house.

Russ McKamey, a former Navy marine turned wedding singer turned aficionado for haunted houses, is the creator of McKamey Manor. Before packing it in and relocating to Tennessee, he began operating his haunted home in San Diego. He provides a fully immersive "extreme" haunted house experience for visitors there. Visitors can attempt to endure the McKamey Manor experience for the price of a bag of dog food because McKamey is an animal lover and has five dogs.

However, there are several ground rules. Each participant must be at least 21 years old (or 18 with parental consent), pass a drug test, have evidence of health insurance, and pass a physical as well as a background check, Facebook, FaceTime, and phone screening.

A 40-page legal waiver must be read aloud and signed by participants as well. However, this is not a regular legal waiver. There are several scenarios that might occur, like having someone's teeth pulled, having their head shaved, and getting their fingers stuck in mouse traps. Out of more than one hundred, players can pick two to avoid, but everything else is fair game. That alone may cause some people to immediately abandon the challenge.

Braver spirits are permitted to continue. The McKamey house challenge, however, is not one that most people complete. In actuality, most people survive an average of just eight minutes before begging with the event to end.

Thousands of people have been persuaded by those eight minutes that Russ McKamey isn't really operating a haunted home. They allege he built a torture room. More than 170,000 people have signed a Change.org petition that claims McKamey Manor is "a torture chamber under concealment." The petition says that participants have experienced sexual assault, drug injections, and severe bodily trauma and calls McKamey Manor "torture porn" and "a disgrace to all haunted homes."

In the petition, it is said that Russ McKamey "uses loopholes to get out of being jailed" and that "one individual was tortured so severely he passed out many times... Only because they believed they had murdered him did the employees stop.

In fact, a few people have spoken publicly about their spooky encounters at McKamey Manor. According to Laura Hertz Brotherton, who visited McKamey's San Diego haunted home, the incident caused her to end up in the hospital. She had cuts inside her lips from actors "fish-hooking" her cheeks, and she came covered in bruises. Brotherton claims that actors buried her alive with just a straw for breathing, blinded her with duct tape, and drowned her by her ankles in water.

The petition claims that "It's essentially simply a kidnapping & torture house." "Some folks have needed expert psychological assistance & medical care for severe injuries," the statement reads. But according to Russ McKamey, the criticism has all been exaggerated. The scariest haunted home in America, and maybe the scariest haunted house in the whole world, according to Russ McKamey. But he'd argue that McKamey Manor is nothing more than a horrifyingly haunted place.

McKamey concludes by saying that his haunted house is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. People are frequently scared by simple suggestions, and they are occasionally led to believe something happened when it didn't. McKamey Manor will inevitably continue to draw visitors. It draws horror fans and endurance athletes since it's regarded as one of the scariest haunted houses in the whole globe. Russ McKamey observes that the Manor "is always going to win," nonetheless.
