BHASMA MANDIR:In Mahakaleshwar temple is special temple in all of the temples because of that bhasma mandir .In this temple pooja is performed with cow dung and with that formed viboothi harathi is performed.This abhishekam will be of two types.This viboothi is get packed inside white thin cloth and that viboothi will be wrapped inside that cloth and with onather white cloth will be kept on that whitelinga.Because of that shrinkage of that linga happened, so with that viboothi wrap will be given harathi.In that time shankamulu,drums will move the devoteees into apocalytic stage and Hara Hara Mahadeva chantings will be done by the devotees.By watching this harathi all will be same as witnessing of energetic khailasha Mahashiva.The Lord brahma has performed bhasma pooja here with that reason shrine has got name as Mahasmashanam.With the dharshan of shivalinga will get protected from prematured death.With the onather type of bhasma harathi which is performed by bhasmam that brought by 10 naga sadhus from that freashly burnt pyres.And recent times it get stopped and started giving harathi with cow dung.At that time of bhasmaharathi everyone will not get allowed inside the temple.And the devotees will stand outside the barricades and will witness the bhasma harathi.bhashma harathi will be given everyday at 4am in the morning.For witnessing of that bhasma harathi the devotees will wait for that in the morning 1 am.With the witnessing of harathi that devotees will get incernation.After that the shiva linga will get abhishekam and will be decorated after that.
