Those who only enjoy Halloween on October 31st are missing out, and we’re just going to come out and say it. It is not just a matter of one day. It is a time of year, a mood and even a way of life. Just ask Lydia Deetz or the Wednesday Addams in your life. The best way to get into the Halloween spirit (sorry, not sorry) is to watch back-to-back copies of the best Halloween movies ever made.
October is one of the best times to watch scary movies on Netflix, but if you’ve already seen them all or want something new, we’ve also put together a list of the best Halloween movies you can watch right now. Some are unique to that site and can only be found there. That means they were made just for TVs, so they’ll fit perfectly in your living room. Others are remakes of old horror movies, bringing back old favorites for another round of ‘let’s chase the teens with a butcher knife’. Still, there are some scary new series out there so you can spend the whole night telling Netflix you’re still watching.
So turn down the lights, make some popcorn, and get ready to feel like it’s October. However, most of these are best read after the kids have gone to sleep. Here is a list of Halloween movies that are good to watch with the whole family.

Okay, it’s a miniseries, but it’s based on a short story by Edgar Allan Poe that has been adapted into several movies. According to the story, Asher’s house is a house. But when the people who live there start getting strange illnesses, the narrator begins to wonder if this could be the house itself. This new spooky show is from the same people who created The Haunting of Hill House on Netflix. It’s basically the perfect Halloween show. Keep an eye out for more details.
2 .We Have A Ghost (2023)
We Have a Ghost is a new Netflix Original that will make you laugh and is also a lighter option. The Film depicts how the Presley family moves to a new city to make a fresh start. Their new house is literally haunted, which appears to be this year’s Halloween theme! But don’t worry, it’s just Ernest, a nice ghost who lives in the family’s attic. Ernest, played by David Harbor in Stranger Things, befriends the youngest son, Kevin, played by Jahi Di’Ello Winston. Almost overnight these two become social media stars. However, that’s when things start to get a little scary…
3 . Choose or Die (2022)
Two friends find an old computer game from the 1980s. When they try to claim the prize, they discover that no one has claimed it yet. But clearing all the rounds is more than what they expected.
4 .Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
In this Netflix version of the 1974 horror classic, a group of powerful people try to bring a dead Texas town back to life. These content creators definitely step out of their comfort zones when they meet famed serial killer Leatherface, who wears a mask made of human skin. (Trust me, you’ve never seen TSITP’s Elsie Fischer like this before.) If you want to enjoy Halloween, you can watch the original, 2003 version, and this.
5 . The Munsters (2022)
The film is a funny take on the love story of Romeo and Juliet. It is a remake of a famous show from the 1960s. Lily, a Transylvanian vampire, falls in love with Frankenstein’s monster, Herman, even though her father doesn’t want her to. She’ll eat your brain, and she’ll draw your blood. Could I have made it more clear?
6 .End Of The Road (2022)
Queen Latifah and Ludacris are in a scary movie, and you can’t miss it. In this action-packed thriller, a family’s road trip turns into chaos when a strange and determined killer begins stalking them. Think of it as Halloween meets Fast and the Furious. This option will give you a funny yet scary show to watch.
7 .Mr. Harrigan’s Phone (2022)
Mr. Harrigan’s Phone is about a teenager who befriends an aging billionaire and keeps in touch with him after he dies. Hunt? They speak to each other through Harrigan’s iPhone, which was buried with him after his death.

8 .The Curse of Bridge Hollow (2022)
The Curse of Bridge Hollow is a Halloween movie that is good for the whole family and will definitely become an annual event. In the film, a father (Marlon Wayans) and his teenage daughter (Priya Ferguson) work together to stop an evil spirit from taking over their town. To make things difficult, the spirit also animates Halloween items, but not in a good way.
If you loved Halloweentown in the 1990s, you’ll enjoy this movie just as much.

The School for Good and Evil arrived on Netflix last year and is already a huge hit. The film stars many famous people such as Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron. The story is about two best friends who find themselves on opposite sides of a fairy tale. They start attending schools where good guys and bad guys learn how to maintain the balance of good and evil in the world. But will they remain friends despite being apart? See what happens.
10 .Escape the Undertaker (2021)
WWE fans didn’t know they needed this Halloween movie until they saw it. You help Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods go through The Undertaker’s House of Horrors in this interactive movie journey.
11 .Things Heard and Seen (2021)
Things Heard and Seen is a good old fashioned home movie horror. It follows a young mother and her family who move from the city to the country. She starts seeing and feeling things that don’t make sense. Is she going insane from being alone in the country, or are the ghosts of the people in the house showing themselves?
12 .Fear Street Trilogy (2021)
This film trilogy, which R.L. The series, based on Stine’s best-selling book, begins in a small town called Shadyside. In 1994, a group of teenagers discover that the scary things that have been happening in their town for decades are all connected. Oh, and what’s the last piece? They could be the next person to get hurt. One critic who was “pleasantly surprised” said the film was like Stranger Things meets a generic 1990s horror film.
13 .There’s Someone Inside Your House (2021)
This horror film gives whole new meaning to the adage “you are your own worst enemy.” I’m sure you’ve seen horror movies with a masked mystery killer before. Now, imagine that the mask makes the killer look just like you. That’s exactly what’s happening to the seniors at Osborne High School as a mysterious killer kills them one by one and wears the face of the person he just killed. This movie is a must watch as it features a new group like Moxy’s Sydney Park.
14 .A Babysitter’s Guide To Monster Hunting (2020)
This Netflix Original film is based on a set of books by Joe Ballarini. It is about a babysitter who tries to save a child who has been taken by demons. You know, just the normal things babysitters do. This option is great for kids who want to get into the Halloween mood, especially because it’s not too scary.
15 .Hubie Halloween (2020)
Really don’t get how scary everything is at Halloween? Enter: Halloween for hubbies. Adam Sandler stars as Hubie DuBois, who is the biggest Halloween fan and wants everyone in his town of Salem, Massachusetts (yes, that Salem) to have a happy and safe time celebrating his favorite holiday.
This makes him a bit of a joke in his town, but only for a year when people start disappearing. Hubie needs to save the day. Like every Adam Sandler movie, this feel-good comedy stars a new cast of great players like Kevin James, Julie Bowen, and Kenan Thompson.
16. #ALIVE (2020)
Where are my The Last of Us fans? In this Korean film, Joon-woo (Yoo Ah-in) is the only person left alive after a virus destroys a city. He has no way to get outside help, so he has to find a way quickly. When he gave up on everything, he realized that he might not be alone.
17 .I See You (2019)
I See You is a great film for those who are more into psychological thrillers than straight up horror films. The story follows the family of Detective Greg Harper (John Tenney) as he tries to solve a kidnapping case that has been going on for decades. At the same time, strange things begin to happen at Greg’s house. Think of this movie as 90 minutes of non-stop excitement that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
18 .In The Tall Grass (2019)
In the Tall Grass is based on the story of the same name by Stephen King and Joe Hill. Siblings Becky (Lesla de Oliveira) and Cal (Avery Whitted) hear a young boy crying for help in a Kansas field. They go to the ground to try to help him, which almost always happens when you yell “That’s not a good idea!” on screen.

And, my friends, this is just the beginning.

If there’s one thing you should always remember, it’s that when it comes to cults on desert islands, it’s best to leave them be. Though you probably won’t need that reminder (because oh), Thomas Richardson (Dan Stevens) didn’t get the memo before heading off to a remote Welsh island on an ill-fated attempt to rescue his sister.

Before Florence Pugh scared audiences in Midsomer, she made her horror film debut in Malevolent. This horror film is about a brother-sister team of con artists who fake paranormal encounters in order to get cash – that is, until a job at a haunted county estate turns too scary to be real.
23 .The Cloverfield Paradox (2018)
J.J. In the third installment of Abrams’ Cloverfield franchise, a group of astronauts on a space station accidentally find themselves in a dark alternate dimension. The film boasts a strong cast (including Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, John Ortiz), and TBH, what could be scarier than an unknown entity from space?
24 .Bird Box (2018)
Even despite the viral challenge and the plethora of memes inspired by the film, Bird Box is still one film that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you haven’t seen the Netflix original yet, grab some friends and don’t you dare avert your eyes while the characters watch. When you’re done, try Bird Box Barcelona, the pseudo-sequel to the film.

A girl named Sandra Escacena tries to use a Ouija board to talk to her dead father, but accidentally lets an evil demon into her home. When this Spanish film first appeared on Netflix in 2018, people were so freaked out that they couldn’t resist watching it. For this you must keep the lights on.
26 .The Babysitter (2017)
This is a great Halloween movie if you’re looking for something that’s a solid mix of fun and scary. However, the sequel is a little scarier because it takes place in an even worse place: high school.
27 .Gnome Alone (2017)
When high school student Chloe (voiced by none other than Becky G) moves into a new house, she learns that the garden gnomes are not quite what they seem. In fact, they need his help to save the world from the Troggs (creatures from another dimension who are trying to take over the house).
28 .Death Note (2017)
This manga-inspired film features a star cast including Margaret Qualley, LaKeith Stanfield, Nat Wolff, and Willem Dafoe (or, at least, their voices). The plot centers on a high school student, Light Turner, who receives a notebook from Ryuk, a mysterious Grim Reaper-like force. Roshni can kill anyone whose name is written on its pages. At first, the student attempts to use the book to rid the world of evil, but soon realizes that he has gone too far.

Netflix is known for great original shows and movies and The Ritual is no different. In the film, Rafe Spall, Arsher Ali and Robert James Collier play a group of friends who decide to go on a picnic in honor of a deceased friend. They apparently get lost, and a lot of scary things happen. If you are looking for something new to watch, The Ritual is a great option.

Pennywise is played by Bill Skarsgård. He is a shape-shifting clown who terrifies the kids in a small Maine town. Those who are scared of clowns might want to skip this one.
32 .Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016)
Before A24’s hit Talk To Me, the Ouija series taught people that they shouldn’t play games with the dead. In the sequel, Ouija: Origin of Evil, Lulu Wilson plays Doris, a young girl who lives with her family in 1967 Los Angeles. She tries to speak to her dead father through the Ouija board, but, you understand, a demon takes possession of her instead.
33 .Before I Wake (2016)
If you watch this movie about a boy (Jacob Tremblay) whose thoughts and fears come true when he closes his eyes, you won’t be too happy to go to bed. No matter how hard the boy tries to stay awake, some good but bad things happen that drive out the monster known as “The Cancer Man”. Goodnight everyone.
34 .It Follows (2015)
A young woman wakes up tied to a chair. Her new lover immediately tells her that she is being followed by an unknown creature that can look like anyone. If it reaches him it will kill him. The only way to get rid of the curse is for him to sleep with someone else, like he did with her (good guy, right?). You’ll spend the day looking over your own shoulder.
35 .Unfriended (2014)
Unfriended is a horror-thriller for the digital age. It’s about a group of kids whose online chat goes horribly wrong. As if the internet wasn’t scary enough already! One person who cannot be seen is following the group using the account of a friend who killed himself a year ago to avenge his death. Be careful, because this will make you want to close all your accounts.
36 .Creep (2014)
When it comes to horror stories, sometimes the less complicated they are, the better. Creep is about a young man named Aaron (Patrick Brice) who one day answers an online ad for the movie Joseph. Joseph (Mark Duplass), who is dying of brain cancer, wants to make a movie for his son Aaron, but Aaron begins to act strangely as the days go by. The film was shot with a handheld camera, which gives it a real, homely feel that can sometimes make it feel even more, umm, creepy.
37 .Warm Bodies (2013)
If you’re looking for something a little healthier, or at least as nutritious, as you can get on Halloween, Warm Bodies is another option. In a world where people and zombies live apart, R (Nicholas Hoult), an awkward zombie teen, meets Julia (Teresa Palmer), a real person. It sounds like the perfect setting for a love comedy, doesn’t it? The two of them become friends, which may actually bring her back to life.
38 .The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (2010)
Victoria Justice plays the lead role in the Nickelodeon Halloween movie. Jordan and Hunter (Chase Allison), brothers, move into a house in Romania with their father after the family is suddenly visited by their late mother’s family. Once they get there, Jordan begins behaving strangely, and Hunter has a sneaky thought that his sister… might be a werewolf. This option is great for kids, but the whole family can enjoy it.
