A case has been filed in a Jaunpur court in India against the director of the upcoming film 'Thank God', which features the song 'Manike' by young Sri Lankan singer Yohani De Silva. Indian media reported that the case was filed against the film's actors Ajay Devgan, Siddharth Malhotra and director Indra Kumar, alleging that the religious sentiments of the country's Kayastha community were being affected. Accordingly, the case has been listed for hearing on November 18 in the Jaunpur court. The movie 'Thank God' is scheduled to be released on October 25. The trailer of the film was released last week and features Ajay Devgan in a blazer, trousers and shirt as 'Chitragupta' In the trailer, Siddharth Malhotra dies in an accident and later meets Chitragupta, who shows Siddharth the record of his deeds during his lifetime. Chitragupta is a Hindu deity who is responsible for keeping records of a person's good and bad deeds in this world. The petition was filed by Jaunpur-based advocate Himanshu Srivastava, who said in his petition that "Chitragupta is considered the master of karma and keeps a record of a man's good and bad deeds," Indian media reported. In his petition, he has pointed out that the portrayal of such deities affects religious sentiments and can create an unpleasant situation. The petitioner's statement is scheduled to be recorded on November 18. The petition alleged that Ajay used "indecent" jokes and "objectionable words" in the film 'Thank God'. Also, the petitioner has alleged that this film is an attempt to spread hatred and contempt. The petitioner has further alleged that the film contains objectionable scenes which are detrimental to communal harmony to earn profits and boost ratings. Sri Lankan young singer Yohani De Silva's song 'Manike Mye Hite' was used for the movie 'Thank God' and it drew attention in Sri Lanka as well.
