Mayim Bialik Discusses ‘Quiet on Set’ Documentary With Guests On Her Podcast

Mayim Bialik is a very popular actress, mainly known for her portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory. She talked with former child actors Jenna von Oÿ and Christy Carlson Romano about the ongoing controversy over Investigation Discovery’s ‘Quiet on Set’ documentary. The actresses concluded that it was not only Nickelodeon but many other sets that had the same environment.

Critically acclaimed CBS’s sitcom The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bialik has given her share of opinion on the controversial ‘Quiet on Set’ documentary.

Investigation Discovery’s ‘Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV’ docuseries emphasizes the abuse faced by kids and women on Nickelodeon sets.

On a recent episode of the actress’s podcast, which is known as Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown, she was joined by Jenna von Oÿ. Notably, Jenna played Bilaik’s best friend in the 1990 NBC sitcom Blossom.

Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano also joined them. Interestingly, she now aims to bring solid changes in the industry with the Looking Ahead program. Christy believes that protecting and training young performers is crucial to shaping the future of the Hollywood industry.

At first, Jenna noted that the allegations made by women about their interaction with Dan Schneider at Nickelodeon were not very contradictory to what she had heard about other sets when she was a child actor.

Responding to that, Bialik stated,

Women being berated in the writers room is something that was just like — I’m sorry — it was considered in — I mean, I hate to say it, — it’s considered par for the course. I will say I do not believe that happened in our writers room … and there were things that we all thought were OK to even joke about, which now we’d be mortified.

Joining that conversation, Christy Carlson revealed that she has not watched the documentary as she considers it extremely triggering.

I think we’re all kind of living with a little bit of survivor’s guilt,

That could have been any one of us, and we all kind of need to grieve together, I think at this point and sort of come together to try to figure out what now.

Notably, Investigation Discovery’s docuseries highlighted issues such as abuse, sexism, and racial discrimination on Nickelodeon sets. Victims include several underage actors and team members, with many people being accused of behaving inappropriately. Since then, people have spoken up about their experiences and united to support those who suffered.
