Three of Lizzo’s former dancers have filed a lawsuit against the Grammy-winning singer. Their allegations include weight-shaming, sexual harassment, and a hostile work environment. According to NBC News, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The defendants are Lizzo (Melissa Viviane Jefferson), her production company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc, and the captain of her dance team, Shirlene Quigley.

The names of the three plaintiffs are Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez. They have accused Lizzo and her team of perpetrating harassment based on sex, religion, race, and disability. The suit also claims that Ariana Davis was forced to perform a nude photoshoot to stay in a dance competition.

“The stunning nature of how Lizzo and her management team treated their performers seems to go against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers and demeans them in ways that are not only illegal but absolutely demoralizing,” said Ron Zambrano, the plaintiffs’ attorney.

The lawsuit further revealed that Ms. Quigley, the captain of Lizzo’s dance team, subjected the dancers to her religious beliefs against their will. The suit alleges that Quigley tried to impose her religious views on the performers, despite their protestations. It also alleges that Quigley discussed Ariana Davis’ virginity on interviews and social media without her consent.

Ms. Davis and Ms. Williams were reportedly fired, while Ms. Rodriguez chose to resign due to the unbearable behavior they experienced.

The allegations made against the singer have created ripples in the entertainment industry and among her fans. Lizzo is known for promoting body positivity and self-love. The allegations undermine everything that Lizzo stands for. This lawsuit also raises questions about the treatment of dancers and backup performers at their workplaces.
