According to Auto Express, 2023 Polestar 3 cars will be capable of 250kW rapid charging, allowing for a 10 to 80% recharge in 30 minutes. The Long Range will come standard with 21-inch wheels, with the Performance Pack adding 22-inch alloys.

Polestar claims the Performance Pack will also bring “Polestar Designed chassis tuning” for the adaptive dampers and air suspension – which Auto Express will lead to a 13mm-lower ride height – plus gold accents on the wheel valve caps, seat belts, and a “laser-etched interior light strip”.

Polestar also sells a Performance Pack, which boosts the statistics to 517 PS (510 horsepower or 380 kW) and 910 Nm, reducing the century sprint time by three tenths of a second to 4.7 seconds while maintaining the peak speed.

Pretty bad for a vehicle weighing between 2,584 and 2,670 kg and capable of towing up to 2.2 tonnes.

To handle its weight, the 3 has double wishbones in the front and an integrated link configuration in the back, which is complemented by dual-chamber air suspension and adjustable dampers that can make adjustments every two milliseconds (500 Hz).

The Brembo-sourced brakes are also noteworthy, with four-piston callipers and 400 mm discs on the front and single-piston callipers and 390 mm discs on the rear.

The rear electric motor is a torque vectoring dual-clutch unit for enhanced agility, and it may be “decoupled” so that just the front electric motor does the job to conserve energy.

Adaptive cruise control, active high beams, forward automatic emergency braking with steering assist and cyclist and pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, front and rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, lane-keeping assist with steering assist, run-off mitigation, a 360-degree camera system, parking sensors, and road sign recognition are standard features on every Polestar 3.

The Polestar 3 will start at $85,300, including a $1,400 destination fee, matching the $85,095 BMW iX and the $92,350 Porsche Cayenne S. Polestar’s website is now accepting orders.

The Polestar 3 will first be manufactured in the brand’s plant in Chengdu, China, beginning in mid-2023, with first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of the year.

Nevertheless, manufacturing will begin in the middle of 2024 at Volvo’s factory in Ridgeville, South Carolina, which will thereafter build all Polestar 3s intended for the US and certain other markets.

After the Polestar 3, there will come the Polestar 4, a smaller crossover that will be debuted in 2023, the Polestar 5 sedan in 2024, and the Polestar 6 convertible in 2026.
