WhatsApp to Stop Functioning on These 47 Phones by January | What to do If Your Device is on the List

WhatsApp Withdraws Service Support for Some Devices

Meta Instant Messaging App, WhatsApp, says it will withdraw its support and stop its services from working on several smartphone platforms and operating systems by January 2023.

The phones include some iPhones, Samsung, and other Android phones running Android old versions. The move is part of an effort by WhatsApp to ensure its services remain secure and up-to-date.

Older platforms and operating systems have limited abilities to protect users from security threats, and are unable to support the latest features and updates WhatsApp offers. As technology evolves, tech companies like Meta make updates to their services. However, older phones do not have the ability to meet up with new updates, thereby resulting in the termination of support by most software companies.

This is not the first time WhatsApp is making this move. In 2019, WhatsApp stopped offering its services on Windows phones, and the trends had continued since then across several phone models.
